Cars

Reflection

I have been learning to write an explanation.  I know that I can use an explanation in my research.  Next I need to sequence my ideas when explaining.

I have also been learning to use all sorts of different sites for research and then put all the research together.

I got a lot better at understanding the point of research.

My next step is to research about challenging and complex things on all sorts of different websites and links.

Earthworm Facts

Narrative Poem

When My Brother Started School

When my brother started school
He went to the pool.

He nearly drowned
But luckily he was safe and sound.

We went to town
to buy something brown.

He said he wanted a toy
I thought that would bring him joy.

We went to buy a home
but first we bought a gnome.

We went trick or treating for halloween
But instead we got a bean.

When we got home we went to bed
And in the morning we got fed.

After that we watched tv
After that my brother dropped my tea.

After we watched tv
we found a key that lead to the atlantic sea.

My writing reflection

Today I discovered how to write my own personal Narrative Poem.

The part I think was the best was the last paragraph because  it is creative and has my brother's name.

I would like to add more creative ideas next time.

Making Inferences

Reflection:

I have been learning to make an Inference.
I got a lot better at looking for clues and using my own knowledge.
Now I plan to use these strategies whenever I read to help me understand the text better.

Estimation

Today I explored making estimations.
I have learnt that an estimation is guessing the closest answer.
I would like to estimate from bigger numbers next.

Identifying fractions

My math reflection
Today I found out that a fraction is one whole split into pieces and when you write a fraction the number above the line is the numerator and under the line is the denominator.
My next step is to identify more complex fractions.

Justify inferences

IALT make and justify inferences
Success Criteria -  I can find clues and connect it to my prior knowledge to make an inference.

Read the excerpts and highlight the clues. Then write your inference in the box below.
Think about . . .
  • Who the character might be (old, young, sporty, brainy etc)
  • What kind of person the character is (kind, thoughtful, nasty, selfish etc.)
  • How the character is feeling at that moment and why.
  • Where and when this action is taking place.

Alex heart began to race. He could feel it pounding in his chest. His mouth was dry and his breathing shallow. How was he even going to be able to speak he wondered. All Alex could see was a blur of faces. His mother would be sitting there, back upright as still as a statue, waiting. No doubt she would have pushed her way to a seat somewhere in the front row.
And now we have Alex Sharp,’ announced his teacher.

My inference:
I can infer that alex is young, brainy and nervous. I think the reason he is nervous is  because he might be doing a speech. I think this because when I was inferring it said his mother would be sitting back upright as still as a statue waiting. and it said he could feel it pounding in his chest. His mouth was dry and was breathing shallow.

Nonsense poem

BREAKING NEWS
Here is the news

Three old boring cardboard boxes
They all do not look anything like foxes.

They can all get soaking wet
Under these soaking nets.

Boxes can be shaped as cardboard foxes
But oxes will not be shaped as boxes.

Boxes old, boring boxes
They sneeze in the breeze.

In the breeze they fly
in the in the sky.

Boxes will not fight oxes
Because they do not move at all.

That was the news!

My writing reflection
Today I found out that nonsense poems are not as easy as it looks because when I first started I found out that making rhymes were not so easy.
I have been learning to write a nonsense poem because our teacher showed my class a poem that was about nonsense.
My next step is to work on the rhymes because I struggled with them.

Summarising Texts

Reflection

We have been learning to summarise by finding the main ideas.

The diagram above shows how we identified the main ideas.

Something I enjoyed was labelling the picture by showing clues for the  main ideas.

Next I would like to summarise more information.

Lizards

We have been learning about lizards and skinks. The thing that gave us the idea was that we are the class that will look after the lizard garden and the lizards. Something  I found tricky was tidying the lizard garden after other students that played in there. Next I will improve the lizard's habitat.

Reflection:
We have been learning about lizards and skinks.
I was able to upload the pictures
I found this hard to write facts about lizards in my own words.
My next step is to make better facts

Dear Mum and Dad,

There are beautiful colours all around me.
I can sniff up some fresh air flowing through my nose and some flowery perfume and deodorant.
I can always hear people talking where I am.  There is a very yummy, milky taste in my mouth.
It is so good it is nearly my favourite thing to drink. I like that I  will always feel the smooth
carpet under my bottom. The place I am in has a lot of books I can see and read,
like chapter books, picture books and even magazines!
There is a gigantic Elm tree outside the area I am in.  I can see a goal post in my sight. It is as tall
as the classroom. I can also see a medium sized butterfly garden.

WHERE AM I?

From,
Kobe

Reflection:
We have been learning to describe a setting by using our senses.

I enjoyed describing the setting.

Something I found tricky was proofreading to myself.

Next time I will work on using a capital letter for the word, I.
